General Information
The counseling ministry of First Church of the Nazarene is designed to help people grow in the things of God and work through issues and difficulties in their lives. Our counselors are committed to using the Biblical principles and prayer in their counseling and ministry.

Our ministry personnel consists of two professional counselors, one personal spiritual coach, one certified pastoral counselor, and the Pastoral Staff. The professional counselors are available by appointment.

We understand the need for confidentiality. To assist you with this, appointments may be made by calling the church office, 541-779-7777.

Wanda Clarkson is a Licensed Professional Counselor, working in  Mental Health Outpatient counseling in the Medford area since the late 1980s.  She is a person of faith who believes that what God calls us to do in life,  He will perform through us as we lean on Him.  She believes in using practical professional approaches in counseling people to resolve difficult issues of life.    Wanda uses the gifts God has given her to come along side individuals, couples and families to promote healing emotionally, spiritually and mentally.  She works to encourage folks to pay attention to their thinking, how that helps or hinders them in their daily living.  She believes in people and their ability to work through the most difficult situations in life as they develop their faith.

Pastoral Counseling
Our counseling fosters honesty, sensitivity, compassion, and spiritual maturity. The goals of Pastoral Counseling are to help people grow in their relationship with God and others, and to develop a better understanding of themselves.

We offer Biblically based Pastoral Counseling in the following areas:
Family Issues - Divorce - Marriage Difficulties - Grief & Loss Recovery - Spiritual Issues

Our Pastoral Team is available by appointment. Pastoral Counseling is limited to a maximum of 5 - 6 sessions in most cases. Beyond that, referrals to professional counseling is available upon request, or in situations where the needs are beyond the scope of this ministry.

To assist in our growth, Medford First Church has joined with Family Counseling and Consulting to establish a referral network enabling appropriate assistance.

Cinda Christie is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in private practice at Trinity Counseling Center for two and a half years. She specializes in working with children, teens, and families where she has over 19 years experience. Cinda treats individuals, families, and couples in the areas of depression, anxiety, self-esteem, childhood behavioral disorders, abuse, loss, and interpersonal communication.

Personal & Spiritual Coach
Need a "sounding board"? Lynn Sarazin is our spiritual coach for women. She will help you identify and take action on personal, spiritual, church and ministry goals. Lynn has special training to walk along aside you during a life crisis.

Certified Pastoral Counselor

Doug is a counselor and chaplain. He has many years of experience in ministry and delights in helping individuals
and couples from teens to the elderly, both to lessen emotional pain, and help with spiritual guidance. Using a
Christ-centered and Biblical approach, Doug listens in a non-judgmental fashion, and offers comfort and Godly wisdom in a personal and respectful manner. Doug is experienced at working with elationship and marital problems, whole- person healing, addictions, health problems, depression/anxiety, and spiritual questioning. He is offering his services at no charge. Please call the church office to make an appointment.
